Seventeen rows; Repeat of 15 sts.
Row 1: K5, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k5.
Row 2 and every other row: knit
Row 3: K4, k2tog, yo, k3, yo, ssk, k4.
Row 5: K3, k2tog, yo, k5, yo, ssk, k3.
Row 7: K2, k2tog, yo, k7, yo, ssk, k2.
Row 9: K1, k2tog, yo, k9, yo, ssk, k1.
Row 11: K2, yo, ssk, k7, k2tog, yo, k2.
Row 13: K3, yo, ssk, k5, k2tog, yo, k3.
Row 15: K4, yo, ssk, k3, k2tog, yo, k4.
Row 17: K5, yo, ssk, k1, k2tog, yo, k5.
Cast on 140, being careful not to twist, join for knitting in the round. Put a marker at the
beginning of the round and halfway through the round (at 70 sts)
Knit in 1×1 ribbing for 2.5
Begin decreasing, and decrease down from 140 sts to 120 sts.
I did this by:
Begin round: *knit 1, ssk, knit in rib pattern across to 3 sts before second marker, k2tog,
k1, sl marker, rep from * to end.
This decreases 4 sts each dec row. This means you would do 5 decrease round to get
from 140 sts to 120 sts.
AT THE SAME TIME:
When piece measures 3 from cast on:
Stop knitting in 1×1 ribbing.
Knit one round, then begin lace pattern.
You will knit in lace pattern for the rest ofthe body.
With 120 sts, this means that you will have
8 repeats of the lace pattern.
When piece measures 11 from cast on,
This is where it gets tricky.
Its knit in the round up until this point,
and then its knit in pieces, back and forth.
The only reason I did this is because I hate
seaming, and so want to do as little of it as
Knit 27 sts, k2tog, k1, turn work, purl back
to beginning of round.
On EVERY right side row, decrease this way until theres 26 sts left for this section (this
is the right-front panel).
Now increase 1 sts at armhole side on right side 5 times. (READ AHEAD)
When these increases are done, cast off 5 sts at beginning of row for armholes.
AT SAME TIME: continue doing the neckline decreases until theres 15 sts left on the
front panel. Knit these 15 sts until the armhole measures 8.
Second front panel:
Work the same as the first front panel, but in reverse.
So, for neckline decreases, you would knit 1, ssk, knit across to the end.
Rejoin and work until piece is 1 from join. Now increase 5 sts each side, to match front
When these increases have been worked, cast off 5 sts at the beginning of next two rows.
(armhole cast-offs should match the front panels).
Knit these sts until back measures 2 less than the front panels.
Now put centre sts on a holder, leaving 15 sts at each side.
Continue working these 15 sts until back panels match front panels in length.
Now seam the sides, and graft the shoulders together.
Neckline and Armhole ribbing:
Neckline: Pick up 3 of every 4 sts with smaller needles (you can work the neckline and
armholes in the round). Mark centre front sts with a marker. Work in a 1×1 rib,
decreasing 1 sts each side of the front marker every other row. Work in this manner until
neckline ribbing measures 1. Cast off in pattern.
Armholes: Pick up 3 of every 4 sts with smaller needles (you can work this in the round).
Work in 1×1 rib until armhole ribbing is about 0.5. Cast off in pattern.
